About the Course

Let's dive into a vibrant sea of colors with this summer cocktail watercolor illustration tutorial. This course is crafted for beginners, ensuring that every participant can follow along with ease. We will embark on a comprehensive step-by-step process that encompasses everything from the initial sketching phase to the final painting touches. Throughout the course, we will explore a delightful variety of colors, techniques, and styles to bring our cocktail illustrations to life, capturing the essence of summer in each stroke. To ensure you are well-prepared for this artistic journey, let's take a moment to discuss the materials that will be essential for this course, as well as what I will personally be using. First and foremost, you will need a set of Grabie watercolors, which are known for their vibrant pigmentation and smooth application. If you have a different brand that you prefer, feel free to use that as well, as the goal is to create a beautiful piece of art that reflects your personal style. In addition to the watercolors, a selection of brushes is crucial; I recommend using small detailed point brushes, as they are perfect for capturing the intricate details of your cocktail illustrations. These brushes will allow you to work precisely and add finesse to your artwork. Moreover, we will incorporate Micron waterproof outliner pens to outline our sketches and add definition to our illustrations. These pens are ideal for creating clean, crisp lines that stand out against the watercolor background. To enhance our artwork further, a white gel pen will be employed to add highlights and additional illustration details, giving our cocktails a refreshing and lively appearance. As we work, it's important to have clean water and paper towels on hand to maintain the quality of our brushes and to control the flow of paint. Finally, creating a calming and inspiring workspace will help foster creativity and allow you to focus on the painting process without distractions. For this course, I will be working on an 8x8 cold press watercolor paper by Strathmore, known for its texture and ability to hold water well, making it an excellent choice for watercolor techniques. More to come on watercolor paper. Stay tuned!
