Welcome back to my channel, loves. Beginners, let's break down some basics on how to refinish wood furniture. And, if your new here, a warm welcome to, you! Shall we dive right in? (grin.) There's a few ways to go about refinishing your wood furniture, depending on your goals.
Senario 1, Stain - How To Refinish Wood Furniture For Beginners
To stain a small accent wood table and give it a fabulous makeover, start by giving it a spa day—clean it up and kick that old varnish to the curb! This is super important, so don't skip it like you skip leg day. (wink, I know you do it too! haha.) If you're feeling adventurous and want to avoid using a stripper (the furniture kind, not the other kind, haha), get ready to flex those muscles with some extra sanding. Next, sand that table like you're polishing a diamond until it's smoother than a baby's bottom. Then, show it some love with a wood conditioner. Sure, you could skip this step, but that's like going out in the rain without an umbrella—you're just asking for trouble with a blotchy stain. Once your table's conditioned and feeling fabulous, apply your favorite stain color. Finally, after admiring your handiwork and letting it dry, protect your masterpiece with several coats of sealant. Voilà, your table is now ready to dazzle!
Senario 2, Paint - How To Refinish Wood Furniture For Beginners
To paint small accent wood accent table, first, you've got to give it a good scrub-a-dub-dub to banish all those pesky dirt gremlins. Imagine you’re ready to paint this table instead of giving it a stain spa day. Prepping is the name of the game, folks, and skipping it is like wearing socks with sandals—just don't! (haha.) Trust me, a little prep could be the difference between a two-year fling and a ten-year romance with your table! Longevity and durability are my jam. So, grab your sandpaper, my darlings. Oh yes, it's time to sand that beauty down. No need to strip it, but make sure you knock off the shine and a few layers. Clean it again, because cleanliness is where its at, (grin.) Once you're done with that, it's time for the primer party! (cue cheeky grin.) Over my years of furniture refinishing, the great debate has always been: to prime or not to prime? I say, PRIME TIME, baby! Keep it simple, paint needs to stick to something. So, unleash your inner Picassos and prime before you paint. When it's dry, give it a gentle sand, then unleash your paintbrush and let the DIY magic begin! (wink.)
